About Me

I am currently in my senior year (yikes! Where did the time go???) at the University of Missouri. I will be graduating this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in Art Education K-12. Although I am sure I will be teaching in public schools at some point, I would also like to explore the world of Museums and their educational programs as well as working with adults with special needs. I plan to go to graduate school starting next fall to work on a Masters degree in Art therapy and Clinical Psychology so that I can one day work with adolescents and art in a strictly therapeutic way.

I am the youngest child in my family. My parents live in Downtown St. Louis in the Central West End, and my lovely sister lives out in Michigan with her husband Ron, my niece Brenna, and nephew Cameron. The rest of my family all lives up near the twin cities in MN, and the other half down in Panama City Beach, FL. Following graduation, I will be looking to make the move up north to MN to be with my family.

In my free time, I love to get active! I am a distance runner and have been in love with the sport since I entered my first 10K when I was a mere 8 years old. I started running and have never stopped. I make time every day for this and I'm pretty sure this time to myself is what keeps me sane from my hectic life. I also love to dance. I dance ballet and am on pointe. Dancing is a great way for me to be expressive outside of the visual arts.

Music is also another outlet for my creative juices :-) I am trained in classical piano and also play percussion and flute. I was in choir for year and still enjoy belting out a good song every once and a while. I must say piano has been my favorite by far. I still make time to play every day.

If I'm not in studio classes working on my art, studying, getting experience in a classroom, out on a run, or dancing my heart out, I can usually be found enjoying time with my friends and family doing regular old day to day stuff... sipping coffee, sharing stories, eating frozen yogurt (my favorite by the way) shopping, riding bike, sitting by the lake, etc. I'm always on the go, but have learned to cherish the quiet moments like these in life, spent with the ones I love :-)
